While sketching signage and graphic elements for a personal project, I looked at the letters I'd drawn and thought, why not just make the typeface?
Great Owl was made for a dark, dusty setting that comes alive in the moonlight. The name comes from the creatures that inhabit the themed environment I'm designing, and displays some of my favorites of the 26 characters. I was drawn to sharp corners, smaller curves, and a stark appearance. After experimenting with the form in the letters I needed for the signage, I developed the full capitalized alphabet. I may pursue lowercase letters or numbers in the future!
